The road to Lebanon · 12 September 2026

Every myth that wanted wisdom came here first.

Gilgamesh, Osiris and Isis, Zeus, Yahweh, the watchers of Hermon — they travelled to Lebanon to receive what they could not make at home.

The cedar forest is in the oldest epic. Osiris washes to Byblos in a coffin that becomes a palace pillar. Europa of Tyre gives her name to a continent. Cadmus carries the letters to Greece. The temple in Jerusalem is raised in Lebanese wood by Tyrian hands.

They arrived as guests. They left as civilisations. Then they named us, and the names became cages.

The mountain still stands. The forest is smaller. The name is not.
